Webinar: Creating A Learning Gateway For Education With SharePoint 2007 and 2010
Date: July 6, 2011
Time: 2-3 pm EDT
Mike Herrity and Dave Coleman have been working together for the last four years on the development of a mature SharePoint Solution for Twynham School in Christchurch, Dorset, UK. Having created their first SharePoint solution (The Revision Gateway) in March 2007 they witnessed an explosion in end user adoption which led to the rapid growth of the Learning Gateway. One of the main features of the Twynham School Learning Gateway is the strong ownership by end users. By creating resources, content and solutions focused on the needs of the end user Twynham has gained an enviable reputation for very high adoption. On a recent snow day 86% of students and 92% of staff chose to use the Learning Gateways to support their independent study and maintain productivity when the school was closed.
This session will focus on the story of the development of the Twynham School Learning Gateway. Covering key milestones from the methodology used to engage end users to the ways in which we improved productivity within the institution. We will cover the three differing topologies we have implemented from 2007-2010 as we have moved from a single server farm to a highly available virtualized solution.
The session will also focus on how Twynham has gained the most from the out of the box elements in SharePoint 2010 to our custom web part developments during our Parental Engagement strategy.
