No support for custom field types

I added a post with a question in another category of the forum, but is only shows up as "moved".

It was a question about custom field types. The field type pallete shows a small set of field types. These are the standard field types. I added a custom field type to test it out (http://www.codeproject.com/KB/sharepoint/mossflashmoviefield.aspx), created a new list, added a field with the type of this custom field type, imported the data in MetaVis, and it shows up as if the field is of type String, instead of type SPFieldFlashMovie. This is really a pity!

I hope the Moss standard types are supported, like the publishing types, and not only the base Wss3 types.

Do you have any information on this, or information on plans to support custom field types?

Hi Serge,

We do not currently support custom field types as well as extended Moss field types like in publishing site. We definitely plan to support these both kinds of objects as well as some other site objects like list views in our close milestones. The goal of our first release was to see whether there is an interest in MetaVis Designer at all. We've got several requests so far about custom column types so it seems to be a popular feature.

Thank you for the interest in our product,
Mark
