MetaVis does not work against a BPOS SharePoint site

Microsoft has a cloud based service called Microsoft Online (http://www.microsoftonline.com) that also contains SharePoint in the cloud. The SharePoint web applications can be accesed from SharePoint Designer, but when you try to access it from MetaVis you get a 401, an authentication error. Authentication can be done both through username/password and through a client certificate when the Microsoft Online Services Sign In application is running. This both works with SharePoint Designer, or for accessing the site itself. It both does not work for MetaVis.

I think it would be really interesting for MetaVis to be able to target this platform. No custom code can be installed on the platform, so modifications and functionality cannot be provided through WSP packages and features. MetaVis could be a great tools to do a lot of the configuration and maintanance of this platform.

Hi Serge,

When you connect to Sharepoint at Microsoft Online cloud try to use the user name which is indicated on Sharepoint Site Actions / Site Settings / People and Groups / / Account. Alternatively you can get there by dropdown "Welcome / My Settings" on the top. I have there something like RED001\xxx_xxx.mic This whole line is the user id that will authenticate. Watch for leading and trailing spaces if you will copy and paste this user account to MetaVis user name field.

For our side we need to figure out how to map email to this user id during the authentication process. All hosted Sharepoint sites that we use have the same situation.

Thank you for interest to our product,
Mark

Hi Mark, I can confirm that it works! Thanks!
