Creating new SharePoint Columns in MetaVis Architect

Columns are SharePoint containers for metadata and they can be created directly inside a content type or a column group. This guide will walk the user through the process of creating a column.

(1) Identify the Content Type or Column Group for the new coloumn
Using the navigation pane, locate the content type or column group that will receive the new column and navigate to it in the diagram

(2) Create the Column
Select the appropriate column type from the attribute section of the palette and then click on the destination object in the diagram to create it. Enter a unique name for the new column. Refer to the properties tab for additional settings.

(3) Update SharePoint
You may update SharePoint with the new column. Note: SharePoints default behavior is to automatically add columns created inside content types to the "Custom Column" group, which will result in two updates to SharePoint.
