Modified By value changed to current user

When migrating a site by copying the site from an older site and pasting it to a new one, the "Modified By" column takes the current user's name who has done the migration(in this case, my user name). At the same time, the "Modified" column is getting populated perfectly. Can anyone shed some light on this?

NB: Metavis is in one server and SharePoint is in another.
